On Monday, Netflix kicked off New Year's celebrations with a new Stranger Things Season 3 trailer and poster.

Netflix chose New Years Day to make the announcement "Stranger Things" fans have been waiting for - when the third season will finally premiere.

The season's production was announced in March previous year, five months after the premiere of season two.

The streaming service is set to release the third season of the horror/science fiction hit July 4.

"Stranger Things 3" are the last words seen in the minute-long clip. The almost four-minute-long clip takes viewers back to New Years' Eve 1985, specifically Dick Clark's iconic New Year's Rockin' Eve broadcast.

Netflix followed up by tweeting a poster for Stranger Things 3 right after it debuted the release date trailer. It looks like it is some type of computer program, but that's all we can guess at this point.

When the broadcast is cut off- the next scene shifts to one sentence: "One summer can change everything" and then, the release date: July 4, 2019. "But I can only promise you that season 3 eventually goes places that are darker, and unquestionably more action-packed, than we've ever gone before", Levy said in a previous interview.

We'll be sure to let you know when we find out more information about the new season.
