Reports earlier this offseason said that if Machado doesn't go to the Phillies then the team will replace Maikel Franco with Moustakas.

If the White Sox are able to sign Machado, it will be interesting to see how they fare in 2019. It's not even out of the realms of possibility that his decision comes within the next week.

After a five hour meeting in Las Vegas, the latest Phillies rumor suggests they are the "clear-cut favorite" to sign Bryce Harper.

Harper, his wife Kayla and agent Scott Boras met Saturday with the Phillies managing partner John Middleton, president Andy MacPhail, general manager Matt Klentak, manager Gabe Kapler and assistant general manager Ned Rice. The Phillies, in particular, have not hidden their interest in both Harper and Machado.

Chelsea closing in on Gonzalo Higuain capture
By contrast, Higuain netted 38 times in just 42 appearances for Napoli when managed by Sarri in the 2015-16 campaign. Marina Granovskaia , general director at the London club, also wants to find a way to move the forward on.

If offers from the Phillies and White Sox are similar, the Phillies would give Machado a better chance to win immediately, if that is indeed what matters most to him.

The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal reported that the contract is believed to be in the $24 million range.

The 30-year-old LeMahieu spent the previous eight seasons with Colorado at hitter-friendly Coors Field and won the NL batting title in 2016 with a.348 average. Add those two things up, and the Sox would be sitting as the favorite to land Machado, although it's not out of the question the Phils are willing to spend on both Harper and Machado. On Friday, the Bronx Bombers added to an already impressive set of infielders by agreeing to terms with free agent second baseman D.J. LeMahieu. So from Harper's perspective, if the money is at least close between the two teams, it would stand to reason that he would return to the nation's capital.

Looking back on LeMahieu legacy with the Rockies, we can see a player that grew past all expectations while helping the organization reach new heights competitively.
