People have been absolutely obsessed with one of the latest thriller films to hit Netflix, Bird Box.

This is a public service announcement: Please don't walk around in a blindfold for the Bird Box Challenge.

Have a squiz at #BirdBoxChallenge on Twitter and see how seriously deluded some people are.

Netflix is discouraging people from engaging in unsafe behavior. "Boy and Girl have just one wish for 2019, and it is that you not end up in the hospital due to memes".

The challenge took off as soon as the movie's popularity reached fever pitch after its December 21 release.

EPA says regulation of mercury emissions not "appropriate and necessary"

But you've got to keep doing that. "Yeah, it's not the result that we wanted or expected", said Oklahoma coach Lincoln Riley . Freshman Ronnie Perkins said the time off between games was a factor in the way the Sooners played in the first quarter.

As if it wasn't unsafe enough to walk around blindfolded, some people added heavy artillery to the mix.

The challenge has manifested in a few different ways, ranging from parodies to potential child endangerment.

Despite the alarm, there aren't a lot of examples of disastrous Bird Box Challenges.

The characters in the film wear blindfolds to avoid laying eyes on the otherworldly entities that cause people to commit suicide.

"Took off my blindfold this morning to discover that 45,037,125 Netflix accounts have already watched Bird Box - best first 7 days ever for a Netflix film!" the company gleefully said last Friday. The movie has also flooded social media with dozens of memes, and inspired a viral social media challenge. Check out how some people have attempted the Bird Box Challenge. (And we suspect there might be some cheating going on underneath a few of these "blindfolds.") But several people out there are attempting to do things without seeing, all in the name of pop culture.
