Diaz has struggled for regular game time under Pep Guardiola and has now chose to end his stay at the Etihad, signing a six-year deal with the Spanish giants.

Real Madrid have unveiled who they hope will be one of their "galacticos" of the future, Brahim Diaz, who has joined the Spanish giants from Manchester City. In fact, the Spaniard made such massive strides in the club's youth setup that he was promoted to the under-18 side aged just 15, before making it to the under-23s just a year later.

However, Diaz felt he would not be offered enough first-team opportunities in the next two years. This situation ultimately piqued the interest of Real Madrid. "We do everything to keep them (the young players) but they decide".

Diaz, who will play under the number 21 jersey at Real Madrid, will join a talented group of young Spanish players at the club, which already includes Marco Asensio, Dani Ceballos, Marcos Llorente, Alvaro Odriozola and Sergio Reguilon.

Díaz will undergo his medical with "Los Blancos" on Monday morning, before being presented to the Real Madrid fans at 13:30 at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.

City are reluctant to lose the 19-year-old but understand why the Spaniard is attracted to Real, together with his view that the competition offered by Riyad Mahrez, Leroy Sané and Raheem Sterling means playing regular football at City is hard.

Manchester City have now lost yet another highly regarded prospect, and if Jadon Sancho's example is anything to go by, the Premier League champions might come to regret his sale. Sancho is now a star for Dortmund and in the England squad.

The 19-year-old last appeared for City's first team last month, when they eventually defeated Leicester City on penalties in the Carabao Cup final.
