Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Could Be Faster Than Apple's A12 CPU

Therefore, in theory, the Snapdragon 855 could be quite a bit faster than the A12 Bionic, but that remains to be seen when devices with it ship in the first half of 2019. While the company didn't spill a ton of details on the Snapdragon 855 today, it did say that the chipset offers three times better performance than the Snapdragon 845. (It's unclear if this pattern will continue with the S10.) Samsung is at the Qualcomm Snapdragon Tech Summit 2019 where the Snapdragon 855 has been unveiled, which we're taking that to mean the company is nearly certain to include the new Snapdragon on its next flagship.

Qualcomm, hosting its annual tech conference this week, has brought partners like Samsung, Verizon and AT&T to talk up their plans for 5G devices in 2019. The 855 is the first commercially-available mobile processor that supports multi-gigabit 5G connectivity, hopefully easing our transition into 5G networks without the need for a complicated or inefficient secondary modem.

Qualcomm's next processor that'll power most upcoming Android smartphones is called the Snapdragon 855. Lastly, the company announced the Qualcomm 3D Sonic Sensor-an under-display fingerprint sensor solution that uses ultrasonic waves, unlike optical under-display fingerprint sensors which use light. The company touts huge performance increases that could even allow it to overtake the Apple A12 Bionic.

Special counsel notes Flynn’s cooperation, recommends no jail time
One knowledgeable source said Flynn's cooperation largely took place immediately following his December 2017 court appearance. Flynn admitted in his plea that he spoke to the Russians at the direction of Trump transition team officials.

Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu 'should be charged' in third corruption case
The three cases involving the long-serving premier have led to speculation over whether he will eventually have to step down. Two of his top confidants have turned state witnesses and are believed to have provided police with incriminating evidence.

US, Mexico and Canada sign new trade deal
And while we don't know the final details of the USMCA, we do know that it largely resembles, in many ways, what was there before. Trump faces a series of diplomatic challenges over the weekend, most notably whether he can strike an agreement with Xi.

Meet the processor that's going to power numerous flagship Android smartphones in 2019. This under-display ultrasonic fingerprint sensor should be very secure as it takes a 3D image of the finger and won't be affected by oily or wet fingers. Given which phones debuted with Qualcomm's top-of-the-line chipset in recent years, it's not a big leap of logic to assume 2019 flagship devices from Samsung, LG, HTC and Google would at least have the option of adopting that feature. The updated engine should deliver a 3x performance boost in artificial intelligence features over what we saw with the Snapdragon 845 now found in many Android flagship devices. The chip will contain "the world's first computer vision ISP".

Are you a techie who knows how to write? That will let the ISP adjust camera parameters to capture a better shot.

Alex Katouzian, Qualcomm senior vice president and general manager of mobile, said Tuesday that the Snapdragon 855 will contain the company's fourth-generation AI engine. Mobile games are getting more demanding, so we'd expect this feature to help support the kind of graphically intense offerings that app makers are churning out with minimal lag.
