Marko Arnautovic: 'West Ham United deserved more than four goals'

MAURICIO POCHETTINO was understandably the happier of the two managers having witnessed his side see off Manuel Pellegrini's West Ham United to reach the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup following an entertaining fifth-round tie at the London Stadium.

But it seems Anderson was listening as two well-taken goals secured a deserved 4-2 win for the Hammers. It's not all about winning trophies for me yet at my age.

The former Reds star stressed that had Dele Alli moved to Liverpool he wouldn't have played as many games as possible which helped him develop.

"I think we are in a period in the season that is different to when Christmas arrives and when it is a normal season that you can prepare yourself to compete during 10 months". He knew from the beginning that despite playing bad against Tottenham, he was going to play today. For the second goal as well.

The defender had clattered Arnautovic moments earlier so it was a sweet moment for the Austrian who pointedly celebrated in the embarrassed Tarkowski's face.

Anderson was the star of the show, however, supporters were lauding the display from Grady Diangana.

Leicester City owner's tragic helicopter crash recorded on video

"Their lad gets brought down and it's a penalty, but because he falls normally nothing's given", was Dyche's magnanimous take on the incident.

And now Real president Florentino Perez is so desperate to get his man that he is willing to send Pochettino a "double your money" offer and give him a big say in transfers so he can build a new "Galacticos".

It's now 13 goals conceded in the last three games and although Johann Berg Gudmundsson and Chris Wood twice hauled the Clarets back into the game, they couldn't hold on for a point at the London Stadium.

"I try to have a team that don't play with the score on the board, we have a style of play", added Pellegrini.

"We're not at a level where we can just run all over teams, we have to be right on the money on all the little things that happen".

Only Jermain Defoe (24) and Olivier Giroud (19) have scored more goals as substitute in Premier League history than West Ham striker Javier Hernandez (17).
