Kremlin expects Putin-Trump meeting in Argentina to go ahead

US President Donald Trump has declared is considering to cancel a scheduled meeting with Russian president Vladimir Putin at the forthcoming G20 summit because of the Russian "aggression". Well, it is clear that this was done on the eve of the presidential election.

Russian Federation asserts that the ships, which were travelling to the Ukrainian port city of Mariupol from Odessa by way of the Kerch Strait, failed to request authorization and engaged in risky maneuvers.

Putin said the West was willing to forgive Ukrainian politicians because it bought into their anti-Russian narrative.

Germany and France have spoken against toughening of sanctions against Russian Federation after the Kerch Strait confrontation, the German newspaper Welt reported with reference European Union diplomatic sources.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan Wednesday held phone conversations with his Russian and Ukrainian counterparts over the recent tension between the countries in the Black Sea, according to Turkish presidential sources.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Wednesday (Thursday NZT) that the meeting is on and that Russian Federation has not received "any other information from our U.S. counterparts".

Ukraine has imposed martial law for 30 days in parts of the country most vulnerable to an attack from Russian Federation after President Petro Poroshenko warned of the "extremely serious" threat of a land invasion.

The Ukrainian ships were trying to pass through the Kerch Strait from the Black Sea into the Sea of Azov. The same court ordered the other 15 sailors on Tuesday to be detained for two months pending a possible trial.

It said the vessels had ignored calls to stop, sparking military action.

Ukraine says Russian Federation is deliberately blockading Mariupol and another port, Berdyansk, preventing ships from getting through the Kerch Strait.
