An eight-second surveillance video released by Chongqing city police on its Weibo social media account shows the two arguing and grappling with each other in the moments before the bus suddenly veered across oncoming traffic and off the bridge Sunday morning.

The bus had veered into the wrong lane and collided with an oncoming vehicle in Chongqing on Sunday before it plunged into the Yangtze River. However, Liu did not get off and later asked the driver to stop the bus when she realized she missed her destination.

The passenger, only identified as a 48-year-old woman with the surname Liu, was angry at the driver for missing her stop, police said. All 15 people onboard are presumed dead. The footage shows the fight between the driver and the woman.

Due to the loss of control of the bus, which was travelling on a bridge in China, the bus swerved widely and hit a vehicle before crashing through the bridge railing and plunging around 160 feet (that's just just 20 feet shorter than the recently-inaugurated Statue of Unity, by the way) into the river.

A search and rescue operation was launched on the Yangtze river near Chongqing in southwest China on October 28.

Salvage teams deployed 70 rescue boats, three floating cranes and eighteen divers to recover the bodies of 13 passengers. China's state newspaper, People's Daily, reports police have now say the fight was the cause of the crash.

The statement concluded that both the passenger and the driver had broken laws for seriously endangering public safety.

The woman then used her mobile phone to strike the driver's shoulder, while the driver used his right hand to stop her attack and restrain her.
