Alec Baldwin Arrested for Allegedly Punching a Man in NYC

Actor Alec Baldwin was arrested in New York City's West Village neighborhood Friday; with police detaining the comedian after he allegedly "punched" an unidentified victim while arguing over a parking space.

A police department spokesperson told the BBC that the actor had been taken into custody and faced a probable charge of assault.

Baldwin then followed the man to the Muni-meter and punched him, police said.

Asked about Baldwin's arrest, Trump said: "I wish him luck". The man supposedly pulled in to a parking spot Baldwin had been waiting for, according to a local NBC affiliate. Baldwin fumed, according to another witness, a construction worker who also declined to be named.

A woman identified as Baldwin's nanny was spotted moving his ticketed Cadillac into a garage across the street soon after the incident - only to replace it in the spot with another Caddy. Baldwin shares the apartment with his wife, Hilaria, and their four children.

The actor is known for his hot temper, but has mellowed over the last few years as he assumed the role of President Donald Trump on "Saturday Night Live". He was arrested for disorderly conduct in 2014 and was acquitted following an alleged scuffle with a photographer in the 1990s.
