Marvel fans were recently hit with a double whammy in the last two weeks with the sudden cancelation of Marvel's Iron Fist after its sophomore season debuted with a far more positive critical reception than the fury of the fist's first season which was widely panned by fans and critics. The series lacked a solid identity because it had no idea what their audience wanted.

Coincidentally, the initial "Luke Cage" season two trailer features Rakim's "I Ain't No Joke" classic. The popular series received a pink slip due to creative differences over forthcoming storylines for Season 3.

Sources told Deadline that Netflix and Marvel executives weren't happy with the "developed scripts" even after their suggestions were included.

With mounting, behind-the-scenes tensions between Marvel and Netflix, a cancellation seemed like the only option in the end. Season 2 was also well received by binge-watchers and critics alike. "We must fight to save our hero of Harlem as he fights for us".

Fans scratched their heads and raised their eyebrows in disbelief when streaming behemoth Netflix announced the cancelation of Luke Cage.

Colter posted a photo with his daughter to Twitter and wrote, "I am forever grateful to Marvel and Netflix for letting me portray such a prolific character, and I thank you unbelievable fans".

Many fans of the show took to Twitter to discuss the cancellation.

Will Daredevil be the next Marvel Netflix series to get the ax? Now they've cancelled arguably their best Marvel series?!

"I think in order to avoid being a broken record, we're going to have to find a Matt Murdock that at least initially has a slightly different attitude toward the people that he loves, and toward himself, and toward God", he said. Meanwhile, The Defenders, although not officially canceled, is not in the works for an upcoming season.

But is there more to the story?

According to Deadline, Netflix moved to kill Luke Cage following tension that began rising at the start of October. Both Tom Hiddleston and Elizabeth Olsen are slated to reprise their big-screen personas for the small screen.

"So wait... First they cancel Iron Fist after a massive improvement".

After a surprise cancellation that followed the admittedly less-surprising cancellation of Iron Fist, the forces behind Luke Cage's departure from Netflix have become clearer. Whether this potential spin-off will air on Netflix or the new Disney platform remains to be seen.

Netflix's "Luke Cage" has faded to black for the worst reason ever.
