Mulinder revealed that despite the seal's apparent dominance in the scrap, the octopus came out victor. He was slapped clean in the face by the octopus who was wielded by the seal.

The group were testing GoPro action cameras when they stumbled across the sight of a large fur seal in battle with an octopus at the ocean's surface about 10m away.

"'I don't know who got the bigger fright - the octopus, the seal or me", he added.

"It was super amusing rather than terrifying, we cracked up straight away", he said. Such a raw moment, brought us so much laughter to all of us all day long...

A stunned Mulinder can be seen wincing from the impact before the two animals disappear into the water. Masuda wrote when sharing the video on Instagram.
