Three infants, two adults stabbed at New York City daycare

Five people were stabbed, including three infants, at a day care in New York City early Friday morning, according to police.

Police say it's not clear whether the daycare was a licensed facility.

The victims - two little girls and a boy, plus two adults - were in stable condition Friday at local hospitals, NY police said. Though one of the adults was seriously hurt.

A 52-year-old woman who works there as a "babysitter/worker" was arrested after assault which took place in the Queens neighbourhood at around 3:30 am, a police spokesman told AFP. It isn't clear whether his child was among those stabbed.

A man and a woman were also stabbed but sustained no life-threatening injuries.

Police say she had slashed her left wrist and is in custody at a hospital.

CBS New York reported that the others injured included a man, believed to be the father of one of the injured children, and a female worker.

Investigators have not determined a motive for the attack.
