He was initially reported to have been diagnosed with an MCL sprain. This is a huge blow to a Washington offense that was expecting big things from Guice, the No. 59 overall pick in this year's draft.

Guice hyperextended his left knee at LSU last season but was held out of only one game.

"God never makes mistakes", Guice tweeted. Guice and the Redskins pushed back against those claims - and the 21-year-old quickly fit in with teammates and became a fan favorite.

We here also wish Guice, who was having a remarkable training camp, a fast recovery.

UPDATE: The Redskins confirmed Guice tore his ACL.

In 2012, Adrian Peterson notably returned from the injury and had a career-high 2,097 yards en route to being named the league's MVP. Most football players his age are sitting at home. Guice's injury likely puts an even greater emphasis on Washington's passing game, especially considering the creative ways in which Gruden can try to replicate the run game with passes to Thompson, Jamison Crowder and Jordan Reed. Payne has made progress and is expected to return soon.

The New England Patriots are not used to losing, so the manner how their 2017 season concluded certainly felt like a gut punch for them.
