At her concert in Detroit on Monday night with Jay-Z, Beyonce thanked Franklin for her "beautiful music" and said "we love you".

Franklin was forced to cancel scheduled concerts in March and April of this year per doctor's orders, including her gig at the legendary New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.

Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin has been the champion of love songs and battle cries.

In 1987, she became the first female to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

When Franklin performed at the Seneca Niagara Casino in 2011, she was greeted by people who knew her from the an east side Buffalo neighborhood when she was just a little girl.

According to CNN's Don Lemon, a source close to the singer has said the star was receiving hospice care at her home in Detroit.

But there were no hard feelings by 2013, when Franklin defended Beyoncé for lip-syncing during her performance at President Barack Obama's second inauguration.

Waldron, who worked for the singer from 2014 to 2016, told the Detroit television station he's maintained a friendship with her. She nevertheless continued to perform until late previous year.

Her last performance was on November 2, 2017 for the Elton John AIDS Foundation in NY.
