Police in Missouri respond to possible Mollie Tibbetts sighting

On July 18, Tibbetts was last seen jogging near her hometown of Brooklyn, Iowa and was staying at her boyfriend's house to watch his dogs while he was out of town, according to Fox News.

Laura Calderwood said during a news conference that she believes her daughter, 20-year-old Mollie Tibbetts, is alive but has potentially been kidnapped.

"The Kearney Missouri Police Department did respond to a possible sighting on 7-26-2018 at a truck stop within our jurisdiction".

Her father, Rob Tibbetts, said the $172,000 reward is "another tool in our arsenal".

Authorities are investigating a report that a missing Iowa college student might have been seen in northwest Missouri. The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation said last week that detectives have not identified any suspects in Tibbetts' disappearance.

Investigators said she disappeared on July 18.

Collum said he often saw Tibbetts running in the neighborhood but didn't on the night she vanished.

"If someone has abducted her, we are pleading with you to please release her", Ms Calderwood said.

"It is our greatest hope that if someone has her, that they would just release her, and claim that money we have raised for her freedom", Calderwood said.

He said he believes there is someone out there who is withholding information, either because they think it's too trivial or because they are anxious it will incriminate a loved one. Officers conducted a thorough search of the area, spoke with all possible witnesses, and reviewed all available video footage. "Everyday I feel Mollie's presence with me. We feel this is the best approach because it gives us the best opportunity to resolve this case".

That effort included sifting through data from her cellphone, social media accounts and a Fitbit, a physical activity tracker.
