Jose Mourinho is confident his Manchester United players can build on their opening Premier League win over Leicester City, as they head to the south coast to face Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday afternoon. After his shock exit at Real Madrid, winning three consecutive Champions League titles, he was linked with a move to Juventus.

Mourinho is under enormous pressure win the Premier League this season after failing to win a trophy at Old Trafford last campaign.

According to the newspaper, the 1998 World Cup victor could end his sabbatical early to replace the Portuguese tactician, whom he worked with briefly during his time at Los Blancos.

Reportedly, the Spanish director, who arrived at Roma only 18 months, is seen as a hard target given he only just arrived at Roma.

United's executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward was unable to strike a deal for either player Tottenham's Toby Alderweireld and Bayern Munich's Jerome Boateng who were both wanted by Mourinho.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had earlier reported that Anthony Martial was left on the bench in Manchester United's Premier League opener at Old Trafford, with the Red Devils forced into using other options.

The triumvirate that could be unleashed from the first whistle are three players that shone at the World Cup over the summer, and they are three key components of United's squad, who will have to perform impressively all season if the north west side are to challenge rivals Manchester City and Liverpool for the title.

And Mourinho also disagreed with Woodward over the future of Anthony Martial, with the United manager ready to offload the French forward as opposed to wasting him on the bench.

The Portuguese tactician is said to be under pressure to deliver the Premier League trophy this season, and it seems likely he will not remain in charge if he fails to do so.
