During the Queen's 66-year reign there have been 13 U.S. Presidents, from Harry S. Truman to Mr Trump, and she has now met all of them except Lyndon B. Johnson. The meeting seemed cordial, and apparently left a good impression on the president, despite the fact that some observers accused him of bad manners and several violations of royal etiquette.

While Melania was thrilled about meeting the Queen, many people blasted the American couple for allegedly behaving disrespectfully during the visit, suggesting the pair should have bowed and curtsied when they met Her Majesty.

When asked about his comments on the PM, he outright denied criticizing her, dismissed the question as "fake news" and said the publication failed to include all the positive things he said about May.

He added: "If you think of it, for so many years she has represented her country, she has really never made a mistake".

"Well I don't want to speak for her", Trump said, "but I can tell you I liked her".

The Trumps and the queen were scheduled to spend about 30 minutes getting acquainted over tea inside the castle but the visit stretched past 45 minutes.

When asked if he talked with her about the issue, he disclosed: "I did".

A January 2017 report in The Sunday Times newspaper said Trump and Charles would not meet during his visit to Britain due to their strongly divergent views on climate change.

"I did. She said it's a very - and she's right - it's a very complex problem, I think nobody had any idea how complex that was going to be". "As we could all see, at one point the Queen completely disappeared behind him which should not have happened". "I know them all and I don't see anybody".

When asked if he had discussed Brexit with the monarch, Trump said: "I did".

That interview was published as Trump and May were attending a gala dinner on Thursday night at Blenheim Palace along with scores of British business leaders.

The queen's first presidential encounter took place 67 years ago when she was still a princess.

"I'll see something where somebody says something wrong, or says something right, and rather than sitting around doing nothing, I'll be able to put out something", he told Morgan.

Trump is expected to play golf during his time in Scotland, where he and the first lady, Melania Trump, will wrap up their stay in the United Kingdom with a private visit.
