Ozil released a three-page statement on social media hitting out at the perceived "racism and disrespect" of his Turkish heritage he has received in Germany from the media, ex-players, and the German FA following the controversial photograph taken with Turkish president Recep Erdogan in May.

"Mesut has the respect of every player here", said Emery, who was appointed as Arsene Wenger's successor in May.

The midfielder cited "racism and disrespect" as reasons for his decision to quit global football which the German Football Association "emphatically rejected".

When Emery was asked about the player's mental state going into the new season, the coach said: "I'm sure he's going to have a great season with us".

"He feels here with us that he can work every day, and it is good for us that he chose to come here and work with us before our two matches".

A benefit of Germany's group stage exit at the World Cup has been Ozil joining up with his teammates in Singapore for their preseason games against Atletico Madrid and PSG.

Ozil also blamed the German Football Federation (DFB) for failing to defend him against his most strident critics.

Sportsmail revealed on Tuesday how chief executive Ivan Gazidis roused Arsenal staff and players on Monday by launching an impassioned defence of Ozil during a morale-boosting barbecue.

"He feels here with us that he can work every day, and it is good for us that he chose to come here and work with us before our two matches".

"For him it´s one thing with the national team and another with us", Emery said.

Arsenal play Atletico Madrid on Thursday before facing Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday.
