Warrior Durant wins second successive NBA Finals MVP

The Golden State Warriors are back-to-back National Basketball Association champions after defeating the Cleveland Cavaliers 108-85 to seal the best-of-seven series 4-0.

Durant recorded a triple-double in Friday's 108-85 game-four victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Golden State Warriors beat the Cavs 4-0 in the best-of-7 championship series, but it was after the opening overtime loss in California when James injured himself. "We just won back-to-back", Durant said. "Getting up every day, going to work with these guys, it's fantastic". The environment is incredible.

Speaking after the game, James said he had played the previous three with a hand injury. He was narrowly named MVP, edging out Warriors team-mate Stephen Curry by a couple of votes.

But as the final minutes ticked by the only uncertainty was whether Curry or Durant would take the series Most Valuable Player award, with the latter taking the trophy for the second year in a row with an average of 28.7 points in the series. The Finals MVP was first handed out in 1969 — Russells final season with the Celtics.
