Los Angeles Lakers, San Antonio Spurs re-engage in Kawhi Leonard trade talks

For the Lakers, it's a dicey position, offering some of their young core players and future draft picks, knowing it would rid them of their depth if they do land a super-team or harm their future if they land Leonard, but not George or James.

Spurs general manager RC Buford said Thursday the franchise would exhaust every avenue to keep Leonard and had no timetable for a deal, but ESPN's report Wednesday evening said the Lakers may be willing to send San Antonio an overwhelming offer.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are apparently willing to make big moves in free agency and on the trade market to convince LeBron James to remain with the franchise, but LeBron is making life hard for them by not discussing what would make him happy.

James has until Friday to opt out of the final year of his contract with the Cavaliers, but with George seriously considering a return to the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Lakers may have a tough time convincing James he could contend in Los Angeles.

Leonard, who can become an unrestricted free agent next summer, missed all but nine games last season due to a quad injury.
