Investigators said the vehicle was carrying 14 people and traveling more than 100 miles per hour when it lost control and overturned on Texas Highway 85 near Big Wells.

The driver of the SUV lost control of the vehicle and rolled over, authorities said.

Some of the wounded were thrown from a vehicle packed with 14 people that was travelling at 100mph (160km/h), County Sheriff Marion Boyd told KFDM News TV.

Four people were pronounced dead at the scene, while a fifth later died after being airlifted to a hospital in San Antonio. Six patients were taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center in San Antonio, Lt. Edwin Roberts said.

Police rescued the driver through the window of the SUV and took him into custody.

The 37-second video starts with the cameraman running across a dirt road that the vehicle starts to drive on. The agency says an agent suspected the vehicles were conducting a "smuggling event".
