Universal has unveiled the first official trailer for Damien Chazelle's highly anticipated next film, titled First Man, a look at the life of astronaut Neil Armstrong leading up to his voyage on Apollo 11 and first steps on the moon in July of 1969.

As noted by NME, the trailer first appeared on "Jimmy Kimmel Live", where Gosling and Kimmel wore spacesuits for the "first-ever interview in space". Both mentions suggest that Chazelle's feature won't be just any ol' movie about real people and a historic even; rather, with Gosling, Golden Globe-winning actress Claire Foy, Academy Award-decorated cinematographer Linus Sandgren on board alongside him, Chazelle's First Man is sure to be on the same caliber of pops-off-the-screen goodness as his previous directorial efforts.

Ryan Gosling takes on First Man, based on the book First Man: The Life of Neil A. Armstrong by author James R. Hansen, which was published by Simon & Schuster in 2005. As reported by the Daily Mail, looking back at Armstrong's preparation and journey to the moon seems like an awe-inspiring and historical experience. Damien Chazelle, who previously worked with Gosling on the Oscar-winning film La La Land, directed the upcoming project. For First Man, he's packing him into a rocket and sending him to the moon. The film also stars Jason Clarke, Kyle Chandler, Patrick Fugit, Ciaran Hinds, Ethan Embry, Shea Whigham, Corey Stoll, and Pablo Schreiber.

First Man hits theaters October 12, 2018. The movie is expected to explore the sacrifices and the cost - on Armstrong and on the nation - of one of the most risky missions in history. Mowgli, Aviron's Serenity and Annapurna's Where'd You Go, Bernadette?
