Dialogue with Trump could be 'constructive': Putin

"The rules-based global order is being challenged, not by the usual suspects but by its main architect and guarantor: the United States", said European Council President Donald Tusk.

"Our position has not changed (on Russia)", said Adam Austen, spokesman for Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs Chrystia Freeland.

Membership includes Canada, the U.S., UK, Italy, France, Japan and Germany.

"China and Russian Federation are permanent members of the U.N. Security Council and are both great responsible countries", Xi said.

That comment has Trump squarely offside with this fellow G7 leaders, including Canada, who view Russia's annexation of Ukraine's Crimean Peninsula and its meddling in western elections as a major global security concern.

Russian Federation was expelled from what was then called the G8 in 2014 because of its annexation of Crimea from Ukraine. "We have always been clear that we should engage with Russian Federation".

"I've been firm, I've been clear, but I don't think descending into insults is right for the way Canada engages with the world", the prime minister said.

It was not helped by two of President's Trump's communications when he left the meeting.

Asked if Mrs May believed she had been snubbed, a Downing Street spokeswoman replied: "No".

She told Sky News: "I talk with President Trump regularly, I talk on the telephone, I spoke to him earlier at the beginning of this week and I'll be talking to him around this G7".

China, Russia Solidify Growing Eastern Bloc as Trump Rattles G-7
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has criticised the United States for "imposing its policies on the rest of the world". Putin, however, voiced his support for Trump's summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in Singapore on Tuesday.

It shows the growing severity of the issue
SC accounted for one of the few states were it rose dramatically, increasing 38.3 percent, according to CDC statistics. But Joshua Gordon, director of the National Institute of Mental Health, said that statistic must be viewed in context.

"We will not stop trying to convince our American friends and President Trump that undermining this order makes no sense at all because it would only play into the hands of those who seek a new post-West order where liberal democracy and fundamental freedoms would cease to exist", said Tusk.

"The president of the United States has repeatedly said that he considers this meeting expedient", he said, "and I agree that this is indeed the case".

The French president did have some private time with Trump before the summit officially started. He added that a thorough discussion is needed to address the issue.

The US leader fired off a series of messages on Twitter hitting out at his counterparts before the summit even opened.

But Mr Trump insisted it would be an "asset" to have Vladimir Putin back at the summit table.

Mrs May pleaded with fellow leaders to step back from the brink of a damaging trade war at a session of the summit on Friday night.

The White House has downplayed reports of tensions between the leaders, but stressed that the president is committed to overhauling trade practices.

Then President Trump tweeted: "Based on Justin's false statements at his news conference, and the fact that Canada is charging massive Tariffs to our U.S. farmers, workers and companies, I have instructed our U.S. Reps not to endorse the Communique as we look at Tariffs on automobiles flooding the U.S. Market!" Putting tariffs on steel and aluminum is not the neighborly thing to do.

The European Commission has confirmed it intends to hit back with retaliatory tariffs from July on U.S. imports ranging from jeans to bourbon whiskey.

By ordering his representatives to back out of the communique, Trump appeared to be asserting his oft-stated aim of upsetting the status quo whether by pulling out of the global climate accord or the worldwide nuclear deal with Iran or threats to scrap the North American Free Trade Agreement.
