Arsenal will host Tottenham at the Emirates Stadium on 1 December, while the return fixture will be played four months later on 2 March.

Emery wrote on Twitter in response to a message from the Premier League welcoming him to the English top flight: "Thank you so much".

After opening against the reigning Champions, Arsenal will then contest a London derby against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Wenger chose to step down at the end of last season after nearly 22 years in charge of the north London club.

"We are so excited to have the date of the first Premier League match at our new stadium", he said.

The Merseysiders will play each of their Premier League matches directly proceeding their six Champions League group games at home, while the rest of their rivals - United, Man City and Tottenham - have an even split of three away and three at home.
