Jason Witten Predicts Former Cowboys Teammate Dez Bryant Will Sign with Packers

The former Dallas Cowboys tight end predicted former teammate and now unemployed receiver Dez Bryant would sign with the Packers, calling Green Bay a "great fit" for the Cowboys' all-time leader in touchdown catches, but the team isn't expected to pursue him, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. Witten did say he was mostly guessing, but considering how close Witten is to the situation, his guess is notable. Bryant was released by the Dallas Cowboys after eight seasons earlier this offseason.

While the Packers have been considered a possible landing spot for Bryant, Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports there's no contact between the two parties at this time.

"I think Dez is certainly going to have some great opportunities", Witten said. "He's motivated and I think he's going to end up going to the Green Bay Packers", Witten said on The Adam Schefter Podcast. Bryant has received little interest on the open market.

The Giants still don't appear interested in Dez Bryant - though Janoris Jenkins continues to lobby the front office to change its mind.

If Bryant was to be signed by a team, now would be the precise time for it to happen. I still believe Dez can high-point the football as good as any other wide receiver in the National Football League.

Though the Packers drafted three wide receivers in this year's NFL Draft, they lack established options after releasing Jordy Nelson, who signed with the Oakland Raiders. "So, you partner him up with [tight end] Jimmy Graham and Aaron Rodgers, [he could] go there and really help them take the next step and get back on a playoff run".

Where is Bryant looking at ending up?

The talented trio of Cobb, Davante Adams, and newcomer Jimmy Graham is a solid group of targets for Rodgers as Green Bay tries to bounce back from missing the playoffs previous year.

Bryant has struggled in recent seasons, with no 1,000-yard receiving campaigns since 2014.
