10 children taken from Fairfield home, dad charged with torture

California police reveal that 10 children have been found in a home in Fieldstone Court in Fairfield, Northern California, living in filthy and awful conditions amid feces and garbage.

Children removed from a squalid California home described acts of intentional abuse that resulted in puncture wounds, burns, bruising and injuries consistent with being shot with a pellet gun, authorities said Monday.

She denied Monday her husband had abused the children. She felt she was being judged for having so many children and having chosen to home-school them.

First arrested Rogers. Jonathan Allen, who is the father of most children was also arrested, charged with nine counts, including torture with brutality.

Jonathan Allen, 29, the father of the children, has pleaded not guilty to seven counts of torture and nine counts of felony child abuse.

But the children's mother said it's all a big misunderstanding.

"It was obviously unsanitary and not a condition that children - or any human probably - should be living in at the time", Fairfield police Lt. Greg Hurlbut said Monday. Allen said she is estranged from her son and that he has kept his family away from the children.

"We're in the process of making the decisions to file the appropriate charges", she said.
